Late-1960s suburban Canadian children work on building a rocket vessel, with the intention of delivering one or two neighborhood children to the moon, whilst dealing with social issues of the coming-of-age, orphan-hood and family veins.

Floyd, the owner of a bar on the Texas coast, has been depressed for a year after his wife disappeared in a swimming accident. David's parents have abandoned him, as they wanted a normal child. Mona holds a big place in David's heart, and vica versa. David's goal is to get his parents to come and visit him, and he wants to show them that he is a great person, despite his handicap. Therefore he works with music on his computer, and his goal is to create a song, send it to "The Cardigans", a famous Swedish band and have them play the song and credit him, hoping his parents would spot it and want to visit him.

What I find most intriguing is that people generally take the story to be a child's tale. For me, the film has always had an underlying darkness – an evil that runs deeper than the Wicked Witch and resides beneath the polished surface. In Once in a Lullaby, I strive to bring out this darkness and impart an altered version of Dorothy’s dream, which in this case is more of a beautiful nightmare. I recommend listening to it with a nice pair of headphones or versatile speakers."
